Training Activities

The training activities recognised by the DOMAR Doctoral Programme are:

DOMAR CFA COURSES	Advanced Training Courses (4 ECTS). Each CFA is equivalent to 4 ECTS, including face-to-face activity (20–25 hours) and the student’s own activities linked to the course definition (75–80 hours).	100 h
DOMAR CFT COURSES	Transversal Training Courses (1 ECTS). Each CFT is equivalent to 1 ECTS, including face-to-face activity (10–12 hours) and the student’s own activities linked to the course definition (20 hours).	25 h
SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS, RESEARCH COURSES	Activities authorised by the thesis supervisor will be recognised, provided they are related to the content of the doctoral thesis or to methodological aspects. They must be research-oriented activities at a level equivalent to CFA or CFT (taught by PhDs), or their suitability and quality must be justified by the thesis supervisor. PRESENTATION OF PAPERS AT SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES	Active participation (not mere attendance) in conferences with high academic standing will be valued. A certificate of attendance and presentation of the paper must be submitted. The equivalence will depend on the level of the conference (national or international). Participation in virtual conferences will also be considered.	National conference: 25 h International conference: 50 h Virtual: National: 15 h International: 30 h
INDEXED PUBLICATIONS. JCR	A minimum of 200 hours in publications is required. This is the weighting for a JCR article. When the doctoral student is not the first author, a 20% penalty will be applied.	Q1: 300 h Q2: 250 h Q3: 225 h Q4: 200 h
OTHER INDEXED PUBLICATIONS	For journals not indexed in the JCR, a correction coefficient of 0.50 will be applied, provided the journal has an anonymous peer-review process, or 0.75 if, in addition to anonymous peer review, the article is written in a language of scientific relevance, particularly English. BOOKS AND BOOK CHAPTERS	The student’s participation in the publication of full books or book chapters will be valued. They must be published by recognised publishers. PATENTS	The active participation of the student in the development of a patent will be valued.	In exploitation: 200 h In development: 50 h
RESEARCH STAYS	The stay must be documented and approved by the supervisor. Stays carried out at institutions in Galicia will be considered as collaborations. Stays at the university where the student is enrolled, or to which their main supervisor belongs, will not be counted. Prior authorisation from the Academic Committee must be requested.	Training stays: 40 h/week · 8 h/day Collaboration: 4 h/week Max. 30 p.m. (for continuous collaborations of more than one week)
OCEANOGRAPHIC CAMPAIGNS	There must be a certificate of the activity and it must be authorised by the thesis supervisor. The main results will be included in the annual evaluation or a results report will be produced. Prior authorisation from the Academic Committee must be requested.	40 h/week 8 h/day
SCIENCE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES	A certificate of the activity must be submitted and it must be authorised by the thesis supervisor.	Max. 15 h total
STUDENT’S DAY	Attendance at least one Student’s Day event during the doctoral programme will be valued.	50 h
PREPARATION AND ANNUAL DEFENCE OF RESEARCH PLANS	Positive evaluations of both the research plan and the annual assessments will be valued.	100 h

The Doctoral Programme DOMAR offers training Advanced Training Courses (CFA) and Cross-disciplinary Courses (CFT), including 14 ECTS to this end on the enrolment, which must be taken through the period committed to the thesis (see DOMAR courses). These DOMAR training activities will be multidisciplinary and flexible so that the students, guided by their supervisors, will be able to choose the courses to be taken from the whole training offer that best suit their line of work.
