Documentation to provide:

 

This documentation will be delivered to the secretariat of the center where the pre-enrolment has been made.

  • Pre-registration receipt (document generated when pre-registering online).
  • Certified copy of the degree or bachelor’s degree, and of the master’s degree or postgraduate studies that give access to the doctoral programme.
  • Certified copy of the academic certification of the bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae.
  • Two letters of recommendation from two professors, one of them from the thesis supervisor. It should indicate that he agrees to direct the thesis.
  • Accreditation of the level of English: or declaration of having a sufficient level of English to follow the training activities of the programme.

Requirements to access the program:

DOMAR is a transdisciplinary doctoral programme that welcomes students from different degrees whose thesis projects are clearly focused on the marine environment. A good knowledge of English is recommended, allowing students to follow the PhD programme courses taught in English, and to be able to develop their complementary training activities: participation in congresses and workshops, publications in journals of impact in their specialities, stays in foreign centres of recognised prestige.

The academic requirements to be eligible to access doctoral studies are the following:

  • In a general nature, to access an official doctoral programme it is mandatory to own official Spanish bachelor’s degrees or, comparably, a master’s degree (in the Spanish university system) or these titles in their counterpart Portuguese system.
  • Access is also open to those who are in one of the following situations:
    • Holders of an official Spanish university degree, or from another country belonging to the European Higher Education Area, which is enabling to access a master’s according to article 16 of the Royal Decree 1393/2007, October 29th, and to have studied a minimum of 300 ECTS in all official university studies, of which at least 60 must be at master’s level. In addition, the situations mentioned by the additional provision (RD 99/2011) are also covered:
      • PhD students who have begun their doctoral programme in accordance with previous university regulations may access the doctoral studies regulated in this Royal Decree, subject to admission by the corresponding university, in accordance with the provisions of this Royal Decree and the regulations of the university itself.
      • The admission to the doctoral studies regulated in this Royal Decree is open to graduates, architects or engineers who hold a Master of Advanced Studies, granted according to the Royal Decree 778/1998, April 30th, or those interested who have reached the research proficiency regulated by the Royal Decree 185/1985, January 23rd.
    • For students who have studied in the Portuguese educational system: a) holders of a master’s degree or equivalent training; b) holders of a bachelor’s degree who also have a student or scientific curriculum that is significant and with recognised ability to undertake this course of study by the legally and statutorily competent scientific body of the university where they want to be admitted into; c) those students who have a student, scientific or professional curriculum with recognised ability to undertake this course of study by the legally and statutorily competent scientific body of the university where they want to be admitted into (according to article 30 of the 107/2008 Law.
    • Holders of an official Spanish bachelor’s degree, which duration must be of at least 300 ECTS, according to the Community law rules. These graduates are required to take compulsory complementary training courses following the stated in the article 7.2 of this regulation, unless the corresponding bachelor’s degree’s study plan includes training in research, which must be equivalent regarding training value in research in master’s studies.
    • Graduates who have passed with a positive evaluation at least two years of training in a programme to achieve the official title of one of the areas in Health Sciences before obtaining a place in training in the corresponding entrance examination for specialised health training places.
    • Holders of a degree obtained according to foreign education systems, without the need for an official recognition, after being verified by the university that it accredits a level of training equivalent to the official Spanish master’s degree, which allows the holder to access a doctoral study. Under no circumstances will this admission imply the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party nor its purposes than that of access to doctoral studies.
    • Those who have other Spanish doctoral degree, achieved according to previous university ordinations.
